Hi, I’m Max.
Portrait & Travel Photographer based in Kyoto
I came to Japan from China in 1999. The very first major thing I bought with my scholarship was a camera — and that began a lifelong passion for photography that has never stopped. After making Kyoto my home in 2007, while capturing the timeless scenery of the city, I found myself naturally drawn to the people who love Kyoto as much as I do — and my lens gently turned toward portraiture. For well over a decade now, documenting genuine connections and unstaged moments has been my greatest joy. Today, my goal is simple: to preserve unforgettable memories with you through my lens in this ancient city.
Why shoot with me?
Natural & Candid Moments: No stiff posing. We take a relaxed stroll through historic streets, capturing natural smiles, gentle movements, and honest emotions as they unfold.
Deep Local Insight: Years of living in and exploring every corner of Kyoto allow me to guide you to quiet, picturesque backdrops well away from the tourist crowds.
Fully Flexible & Tailored Itineraries: Every session can be customized to your preferences, pace, and the day’s light. Whether you want an iconic classic view or a private ride to hidden spots, we move comfortably at your rhythm.
Fluent Trilingual Communication: I communicate comfortably in English, Japanese, and Mandarin, ensuring our planning and shooting process is completely effortless and stress-free.
Whether you're visiting solo, traveling with family, enjoying a honeymoon, celebrating an anniversary, or planning a secret surprise proposal, I look forward to preserving your Kyoto story.
